Who are we?
As an independent foster care agency, Fosterplus operates from ten offices throughout England and Scotland. We provide fostering services to 65 authorities and July 2009 saw us providing care for 250 children. We have seen this number increase every year since 2003. At present we have nearly 200 carers; by the end of the year this number should rise to 240.
Fosterplus employs in excess of 85 members of staff with a mixed range of skills; many of these are qualified social workers.
Fosterplus began in 1996 and has witnessed a measured growth since that time. The company’s success is due largely to its founder directors, Deborah Ferguson and Paul Snell, who continue to have a ‘hands on’ approach to management and retain an enthusiasm for high quality social work and delivering the required outcomes. We are a child centred organisation and recognise that each is an individual with needs and choices. Our Statement of Purpose is registered with Ofsted and gives details of the aims and objectives of Fosterplus.
The Directors and staff welcomed the introduction of National Care Standards. Inspections by Ofsted (England) and the Care Commission (Scotland) are welcomed and we have a proactive approach to inspections perceiving them to ensure a safe and effective standard for children in care.
To date we have been awarded three ‘OUTSTANDING’ awards, whilst the remainder have all been recognised as ‘GOOD’. Inspections reports can be accessed below for each of our offices.
As a leading independent foster care agency, our core values are to ensure children are healthy and safe, can enjoy life and achieve their full potential. We will ensure that that are not disadvantaged and encourage all to make a positive contribution to the community.
We do expect to provide care for the most challenging children and can demonstrate a successful track record providing them with a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. This is achieved through our staff and carers working ‘hand in hand’ and the training and support we provide to all of our carers without exception.
